History…     Once upon a time ...

Built in 1842 by François Dauth and Philie Baribeau, this house remained in their family for more than 125 years.  Millbuilder & prosperous businessman, François Dauth died in 1869.  He left a treasure and this outstanding manor performing some architecture riddle as this « corbeau de bois » in the south-west wall (see picture).

This house was erected over ruins on wich Lord Jean Lemoyne built a fur trading post in 1669.  L'Îsle des Pins is an ancient island and artifacts found on this land confirmed an Native American's fishing tradition dating back 12th century.

In first half of 20th century, Auguste Baribeau, mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade and distinguished member of Shawinigan Water & Power, used the old manor as a country getaway for business & political meetings.

With extensive work & historical research
, l'Auberge du Manoir Dauth opened in 1995.  In 2002 a Victorian style hotel, library and internet center were added to enhance comfort and activities offered to our guests.
